EXPERIENCE AND USER-CENTERED DESIGN IN PUBLIC SPACES Article

The human is the focal point of design when considering him as there as on for existence of the space. In the connection between human and place; the existence of the space based on perception and taking a form as action create the design of space. This space as long as it is an area that is affected by movement and behavior, user-centered solutions are searched against possible problems. Here, these arching for solutions of the problems which is becoming from the usability of the space creates the need for good design. The design; it creates a design cycle by evaluating the interaction received from the user at the end of the process as; determining the need, identifying and solving possible problems, providing flexible use with technology and transforming it into an aesthetic form. The validity of this cycle is seen in multidisciplinary areas from the interfaces of digital screens to architectural design, city planning, industrial design, and visual media of communication design. In the common purpose of all design approaches, an ideal design is based on human-centeredness that serves firstly from individual to society. In this context; it is possible to observe the effects of the human centered design (HCD) concept on the process. In addition, in the mentioned cycle; evaluating and measuring the concept of user experience design creates an added value that affects the result in interior architecture and public spaces as well as in all design disciplines. Recently, beyond the traditional architectural structures, when considering the designs of innovative, analytical and interactive public spaces based on userbehavior, it is observed that the human-centered design and user experience add quality to the interior space. In this study, the search for space design for the experience and habits of the human being as a user has been examined in the context of interior architecture on public space examples and evaluated through the space-user relationship. POSTHUMAN SPACE / USER EXPERIENCE IN ANTHROPOCENE AGE Internetional Conferance

The shaping of the spatial experience with the effect of the human-centered perspective becomes a critical discussion topic in the design of symbiont spaces. Since the beginning of humanity, design has been based on human needs and positions the human at the center all over the world. Today’s world is becoming a place shaped by social, economic and political decisions of people. This formation, which is called the Anthropocene age shows the fact that humans are othering the nature according to their own priorities. At the same time, it is possible to say, this age created a simulation area under the influence of humanity and was shaped by human behavior in time. The person in question, has turned into a cyborg figure, and taken on a new posthuman form in nature-culture hybridization, both as an individual and socially in the changing age. In this context, it is necessary to examine a ‘Us’ structure consisting of human and non-human as a question of self & other, and to approach the space experiences by considering the posthuman as a user. In art, design and architecture; understanding what this new posthuman form is in the Anthropocene, considering human behavior and habits, and examining the relationship between human (and posthuman), space and nature are the main research topics. In the paper, this issue is especially emphasized, and the connection between human and space is examined in response to the destructive influence of the changing age. The results of the research define the propositions that will minimize the negative factors may occur in terms of architectural life and design in the Anthropocene by considering human- space relationship and user experience. SEEKING SOLUTIONS IN LIMITED AREAS: MICRO KITCHENS AND NEW MICRO LIFE Article

Micro lifestyle has become an issue that has been frequently discussed in recent years. Especially about place design there is an increase in re-searches on this subject. It is observed that the limited living spaces create a new lifestyle by transforming into micro living units thanks to the flexibility and functionality of the design. In the previous periods, the reason for choosing narrow houses which is unusable living spaces was mostly due to economic insufficiency. But, today it is seen that these micro dwellings have transformed into comfortable and aesthetic spaces with the flexibility of technology and design. However the micro apartments have been taken a place in architecture as a new practical, analytical and flexible lifestyle. The need for life in the micro area and related micro kitchen solutions has arisen; under the influence of factors such as the changing characteristics of the social structure, the increase of individual life, growth curve of metropolitan cities, the dynamic mobility of education and business sectors. After searching for solutions in limited areas with the socio-cultural renewal of the kitchen; the concept of “micro kitchen” has been emerged owing to place of the kitchen in architecture as a space, technological developments and functional design. At the same time, these residences with functional design and technological details can also be transformed into a residence apartment. On the other hand, having a functional residence apartment can become a status indicator by high-income segments of the society and it is seen that the idea of living in a limited area without compromising all their needs is increasingly accepted. This reveals first, micro unit design and after that concept of the micro kitchen as a new field in architecture. READ MORE

THE IMPACT of TECHNOLOGY on RESIDANTAL KITCHENS AND MICRO KITCHENS Internetional Conferance

Today, it is observed that narrow spaces have been transformed a new lifestyle into micro living units thanks to the flexibility and functionality of the design. Previously, the narrow dwellings were considered as preferred living spaces due to the economic inadequacy whereas today obviously they have transformed into comfortable and aesthetic spaces with the flexibility of technology and design. In another aspect, the micro apartments have been taken a place in architecture as a new practical, analytical and flexible lifestyle. Life in the micro area and the need for micro kitchen solutions have been arisen under the influence of factors such as; increasing in individual lifesyte, changing social structure, rising the growth curve of metropolitan cities, the dynamic mobility of education and business sectors. After searching for solutions in limited areas with the socio-cultural renewal of the kitchen; the concept of “micro kitchen” has been emerged oving to place of the kitchen in architecture as a space, and technological developments and functional design. In recent years, because of the new city planning on metropolitan life, increasing population and the mentioned socio-cultural changes, micro-dwellings have started to be preferred more and more. Eventhough there are still economic reasons behind these preferences, on the other hand, the smallest house equipped with functional design and technological details can turn into a residence apartment. So, it is the fact; the changing social structure is a more influential factor than the economic reasons for having a micro dwelling. READ MORE
